Parahyangan Catholic University (UNPAR) is one of the oldest and most prominent private universities in Indonesia. UNPAR was founded on January 17, 1955, with the establishment of the Academy of Commerce, a collaboration between the Bishop of Bandung, Mgr. P.M. Arntz, OSC, and the Bishop of Bogor, Mgr. Prof. Dr. N.J.C. Geise, OFM. This academy was established in response to the need for high-quality higher education grounded in Catholic values.
In August 1955, the Academy of Commerce evolved into the Parahyangan College of Socio-Economics, which later became the foundation of UNPAR’s Faculty of Economics. Since then, UNPAR has expanded its educational scope into various academic fields, including vocational education.
In response to the growing demand for workforce readiness and professional management skills, UNPAR launched its first vocational program in 1995: the Diploma III in Business Management. This program marked a new chapter in the university’s vocational education journey. It was officially established under the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 120/DIKTI/Kep/1995, dated May 12, 1995, with an initial “Registered” status.
Over time, the program has demonstrated a strong commitment to improving the quality of education. On December 8, 1999, the program earned “Accredited” status with a B rating, as stated in the Decree of the Director General of Higher Education No. 269/DIKTI/Kep/1999. This achievement reflects the dedication of the academic community in building an excellent and industry-relevant study program.
In its ongoing pursuit of quality, the Diploma III in Business Management Program has been awarded a “Very Good” accreditation status by the National Accreditation Board for Higher Education (BAN-PT), through Decree No. 2289/SK/BAN-PT/AK-ISK/Dipl-III/IV/2022, valid until November 1, 2025. This recognition highlights the high standards maintained in teaching processes, curriculum, academic staff, and facilities.
Today, the Diploma III in Business Management Program is part of the Faculty of Vocational Studies at UNPAR, which was officially established on October 1, 2024. All academic activities of the program are conducted at the PPAG2 Building, UNPAR Ciumbuleuit Campus, while administrative and faculty offices are located on the 3rd floor of Building 10.
With over two decades of experience, the Diploma III in Business Management Program remains committed to producing graduates with practical competencies, high professionalism, and strong ethics. Alumni of the program are now contributing significantly to various industrial sectors and entrepreneurial ventures. Supported by a spirit of collaboration, innovation, and community service, this study program serves as one of the key pillars in UNPAR’s mission to nurture the nation’s intellectual and holistic development.
In addition to the Diploma III in Business Management, the Faculty of Vocational Studies currently offers other programs as well:
- Bachelor of Applied Food Engineering Technology (established in 2024),
- Bachelor of Applied Creative Business (established in 2024), and
- Bachelor of Applied Food Agribusiness (established in 2025).
